While some believe that the earth and its inhabitants (some or all) will undergo a physical and spiritual transformation that will mark the beginning of new era, others believe that the 2012 date marks the beginning of a destructive and apocalyptical time of great change in which humanity is further divided, challenged, adversely by nature and other forces, and vastly reduced in number.
