Gemma Patricia Bowler – 1988-2016

Gemma BowlerDeath is nothing at all – I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I, and You are You,

Whatever we were to each other, that we are still,

Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used,

wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow,

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we always enjoyed together.

Play, Smile, Think of me, Pray for me,

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,

Let it be spoken without effort,

Put no difference into your tone,

Without the ghost of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant,

it is the same as it ever was, there is absolute unbroken continuity.

What is death but a negligible accident ?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight ?

I am waiting for you for an interval somewhere very near, just around the corner.

All is well, Nothing is past, Nothing is lost.

One brief moment and all will be as it was before.

How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting,

When we meet Again…..

See You Soon Pretty Kid, Always In My Heart

To All Parents

“I’ll lend you, for a little time, a child of mine,” He said.

“For you to love the while she lives and mourn for when she’s dead.

It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,

But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me?

she’ll bring her charms to gladden you, and should her stay be brief,

You’ll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief.”

“I cannot promise she will stay; since all from earth return,

But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.

I’ve looked the wide world over in My search for teachers true

And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have chosen you.

Now will you give her all your love, not think the labour vain,

Nor hate Me when I come to call to take her back again?”

“I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord, Thy will be done!

For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we run.

We’ll shelter her with tenderness, we’ll love her while we may,

And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay;

But should the angels call for her much sooner than we’ve planned,

We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand!”

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Rest in peace sis. Thank you for blessing me a beautiful nephew! He’s the most amazing thing to happen to my life.
Everytime I listen to system of a Down I’ll rock out twice as hard and remember how much we loved listening to them together, and blasting it when ever we had people over.
I’ll never forget how proud you were of me for all the little things in life and how you used to brag to your friends when ever I got a good job or good marks in school. And how fishing with my dad was always a competition (that you would always win).
I love you and I miss you! See you on the other side. And don’t worry, I’m taking good care of your fat kitty.
